I have been involved with Sierra Academy from the beginning. As a founding member, I was hired in March of 2014 to help start the school. Working with the Principal, I managed the paperwork, recruited students, established a school space and assisted in creating an environment that would become what SAEL is today. I was the Business Manager at SAEL for nearly five years. I still believe that education and building self-esteem are key to helping young people be successful in the world today.

Prior to SAEL, I worked in schools and libraries for over 10 years.  I taught basic computer skills at Pleasant Valley School and Nevada Union.  I worked as a Library Technician for Seven Hills, the Grass Valley Library and the Madeline Helling Library.

I have lived in Nevada County since 1995. My husband and I built our home from the ground up.  We raised our three kids here. Now that they are all grown and living elsewhere, I have more time for personal interests and giving back to the community.

I love to travel and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I lived abroad in France for two years during the 80ā€™s and speak French.  I enjoy taking long hikes in the countryside. When I retired from SAEL, I walked the Camino de Santiago, from the Pyrenees of France across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. Nearly 500 miles!  I think that slow travel is the best way to see a country and meet its people. I am also an avid quilter. When Iā€™m not traveling or taking long walks, I enjoy making quilts for friends and family.
